Reverend Dr. David N. Wentz

Senior Pastor

Pastor David Wentz has been pastoring churches since 1981.  He has served six United Methodist churches in the Baltimore-Washington region.

His passion is helping people find new ways to connect with God.  He loves to watch people discover new talents and abilities that bring them fulfillment and joy. He believes every Christian has the ability and the responsibility to hear from God. His job, therefore, is not to tell people what to do, but to encourage them to listen to God and do what God is saying.

Pastor David graduated from Severna Park High School in 1972 and the University of Virginia School of Engineering in 1976. After two years at Ford Motor Company's Research and Development Center, he felt called to the ministry and entered seminary. He has earned Masters of Divinity degrees from Melodyland School of Theology and Wesley Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry from Asbury Theological Seminary. He served churches in Mt. Airy, Accokeek, Pasadena and Mitchellville before coming to Trinity in 2007.

Pastor David has been married to Paula since 1974. They have five children and six grandchildren. He loves to lead worship with his guitar (and sneak in his sax and flute whenever he can), but he also appreciates good old traditional worship. He also loves backpacking and kayaking.

"He is the one who gave these gifts to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ, until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ."

(Ephesians 4:11-12)
